Mission of Carter G. Woodson

The mission of Carter G. Woodson is to provide an education to youth and families by establishing adequate resources for children to succeed. Our focus on core academics, vocational training, technology, leadership and student outreach ensures the success of our students in becoming educated, self sufficient, and economically independent.

Carter G. Woodson Public Charter School is designed to target students who have not been successful in school and will benefit from an interactive, family like learning atmosphere to reclaim their education toward a high school diploma. Our school will provide quality academics, truancy prevention, mental health counseling, vocational training, and the development of a higher education plan to enhance each youth’s stability and help them to become assets in their communities.

Recent News

Carter G. Woodson is celebrating the renewal of its charter with Fresno Unified School District. Charter schools are subject to renewal every five years according to state law.

 

Be sure to get your student vaccinated for Whooping Cough. New laws require that all 7th-12th graders must have the Tdap vaccine BEFORE attending school for the 2011-2012 school year.

Welcome to the New School Year!

Classes began August 16 for the 2011-2012 school year. Be sure to register your student now to reserve a place. Carter G. Woodson accepts 7th-12th grade students, and is enrolling now. You can register by visiting the campus office at 3333 N. Bond St. Please direct any questions or waiting list inquiries to our office phone by calling (559) 229-3529. Office hours are Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm.

 

What Educational Programs are Offered at Carter G. Woodson?

Carter G. Woodson Public Charter School offers students choices in the way their education is achieved. The two educational programs we offer are a traditional, site-based program, and a personalized learning program.
