Classes began August 16 for the 2011-2012 school year. Be sure to register your student now to reserve a place. Carter G. Woodson accepts 7th-12th grade students, and is enrolling now. What Educational Programs are Offered at Carter G. Woodson?
Carter G. Woodson Public Charter School offers students choices in the way their education is achieved. The two educational programs we offer are a traditional, site-based program, and a personalized learning program.
Our site-based program offers:
- Structure like a traditional high school
- Special attention through reduced class sizes
- One-on-one attention
- After school tutoring
- Family-oriented atmosphere
Personalized leraning offers:
- Class sessions with qualified teachers in each subject area
- Flexibility of an independent studies program
- Small class sizes
- Flexible scheduling
- Highly-qualified, specialized teachers
- Family-oriented school atmosphere
- Students attend classes two days a week where they recieve instruction, have questions answered, and turn in their independent work.
- Math instruction comes from math teachers, history instruction is from history teachers, etc.
- One-on-one assistance available after school and on weekly Friday sessions.
Students can select the Monday-Wednesday or Tuesday-Thursday track depending on their scheduling needs.
